Cable trouble

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this
I have a livewire cable that only seems to work with passive pickups.
It works wonderfully on one of my passive basses,
but as soon as I plug it into either of my active ones it stops work and I can't get any sound at all.
What's going on here?

I'd be curious to see the tips of this livewire cable.
Is it stereo ? (tip/ring/sleeve)
or mono ? (tip/sleeve)

On an active bass the battery is powered with its ground being linked by the sleeve of the cable plug when you insert it.
If the cable does not link the ring and sleeve of the bass inside jack, then a active bass cannot be powered.
