hey guys. I'm curious about any cable manufacturers that have a replacement warranty like Monster cables. I've heard some rumors about monster cables being slightly larger in diameter than standard cables so it ruins the input jacks, and they're just ridiculously expensive, too.....attached to GC, and all that stuff. bu yea, I'm curious if there's any alternatives to Monster that have a warranty like Monster cables.

Funny thing is, even though they have a lifetime warranty, you'll probably never need it.
I never understood how Monster can pretty much admit that the cable will break, yet people still buy them?

Monsters are good cables, but the heads are a little too large and ultimately bend up the innards of the input jack.
Most good cables last, particularly if you are careful with them....but in the end, they all wear out.
Cheaper cables aren't usually worth it, as they break too easily.

Perhaps high-grade jacks are required. I'm sure the ego-maniacs at Monster test their products with military grade equipment. Infact, I only have to replace a Monster cable when I lose a Monster cable, KOW!
YMMV
Ps: buy 'em on sale or used, FTW!

Riiight. I own no Monsters nor do I plan on buying any, but that is just funny right there.
They do have a warranty though.
I use Mogami Gold.

Don't believe everything you read.

| | | | I have had more problems with Planet Waves than w/ Monsters. I have only ever had one problem due to the Monster's larger barrel diameter, and that "solved itself" after a few uses. I will say I was wondering about PW's return policy on this forum, in another thread, and their rep PM'ed me and told me to send my PW cable in for a replacement. I haven't taken the time to ship it in yet, but that's on me. Now for the Monsters- I just drop into GC and they hand me a new one off the wall, no receipt needed. You cannot go wrong with Mogami or George L's, either.

| | curiously looking back at what once was beautiful | | Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Oregon | | IMHO the whole lifetime replacement thing is just a marketing gimmick, designed to instill extra confidence in gear that may or may not (IME) be worthy. And you will always pay a premium for that extra feeling of security.
IMHO it's nonsense. Nothing lasts forever. If a cord lasts me 20+ years, I'll be happy to buy a new one. On the other hand, when a cord fails within a year, I don't care how easy it is to exchange - it's going in the trash. (Life is too short for unreliable cables.)
I used to like to deal with Bayou Audio Cables, where all my money went to good components & competent assembly. I trust that stuff more than anything and it cost less. (And what do you know - Butch just announced he's making cables again! )
But, when I'm in a pinch at GC, the Mogami and LiveWire Elite stuff does seem like it will hold up.
