My gosh this is so cool and I really really appreciate the effort. If only one thing though- I wish I could read your tech notes on the last pages about pickups. Is there a way to easily translate the whole document?

I will take more time to prepare and publicly display mine, some of my customs aren't really customs and some have typos.

This is what I use. I actually edited the PDF in some spots to English. (you would think with the last name Schwab I would know some German... )

You mean the Google page? You have to copy and past text from the PDF into the box.

Cadfael, I have two more questions that just popped into my mind.

First off, am I allowed to keep a printed copy of it? It seems like having it in paperback could be practical most of the time.
Also, do you keep a changelog of the corrected diagrams (not just newly added ones), so I can check which ones have been replaced? Again, this is connected with the first question so if a diagram gets corrected I can just replace the one sheet of paper.

@ OldogNewTrick: RE Ibanez 71-77 basses
To say it with Winston Chruchill: This is not the end. This is even not the beginning of the end. Maybe it is the end of the beginning."
I won't post all basses but I think about 10 diagrams will follow to see the changes during the years ...

@ Stealth:
You should wait until Version 4 ...
The compilation has grown bigger and bigger through the years and I am thinking how to reorganize it, so that it can still grow (some ares have already become very short of numbers).

Adding about 15 Ibanez vintage pages already caused to rename some other Ibanez diagrams. And I now have about 5-10 Yamaha vintage basses, too ...
Will I put in Cimar? Surely near to Ibanez ...

If the compilation shall keep growing, I need a number system that has enough space - but being still comfortable and easy to handle.

There is no changelog yet.
But this should come with Version 4. I have to think of how to make it best ...

Another thing is, that I might re-organize to a language mix.
History narrations and wiring descriptions still in German. But colours, Ground, Neck, Bridge etc. in English.

But these are all things I haven't decided yet.

Would you like help for French translation by the way?

Thank you for your effort and keep good work

These are EXCELLENT diagrams, especially because they include BOTH the "pictorial" and schematic diagrams. I come from an electronics background and schematics really help in understanding how a circuit works.

Thanks again!

I decided to make a small German-English Dictionary with the most important translations (elements, namings, colours, positions).
I might (later) make a French version of this directory, too ...

The German-English Dictionary will be published with the next version. I think it's no problem to print two pages, put them next to the computer and see what "Saitenerdung", "Masse" or "Spulenanzapfung" means (although most things explain themselfs).

@ Crater:
In 1982 I started with a book by our German "wiring Guru" which had only these schematic diagrams. I had to learn these things (which helped me later at school and becoming a skilled metal worker - as pneumatics work the same way).

Yes! I add the schematic diagrams so that newbies can learn how all this works, starting with easy diagrams and trying to understand more and more complicated ones. On the other hand, they needn't learn it - but it's an invitation.
People on a higher level can easily understand how a trick works, find faults or mistakes ...

I think my "masterpieces" are the schematic diagrams of the "MegaSwitches". I have never seen schematic diagrams of them before - and with my diagrams, everyone can invent "complicated" controls with Mega Switches.

Look at that, bass wiring and a lesson in German at the same time!

I actually found it pretty easy to figure out what the different words meant, but when I got stuck I used Google translate.

I have to say there are some very long words in German (because of multiple words stuck together, like Spulenanzapfung = coil tapping)

That's really tricky in german grammatics! You could also write "Spulen-Anzapfung" to make clear that it's essentially two words, and both ways of writing it are right.

But then again, english has it's own difficulties, like then/than or your/you're etc.

Yes ...

Donaudampfschifffahrtskapitänsmütze ...
The captain's hat of a steam boat on the Donau (river Danube).

By the way ...
I uploaded version 3.84 some minutes ago ...
It has some more Ibanez Vintage and Cimar Vintage wirings.
And the "Triple P" Stealth posted yesterday is also on board in two versions (with Stealth permission).

This version has a small dictionary now (without Spulenanzapfung).
And also a change log (in German) ...
Both are at the end of the compilation.

Wow, that's a long one! I remember seeing a long word like that on a package of film when I worked in the printing field. A co-worker was German, and he said it meant "dark room" but was literally something like "a room with red light where you can open the box of film without exposing it" or something!
