For those of you that have an NTMB918F with a blend control do you feel you lose about 3dB in the center position?

FWIW:

I'm guessing the inquiry is related to this Audere thread since 3dB is specifically mentioned:

Audere Pre - Blend seems wierd

It's been a while since I've had an NTMB and not sure about the 918F part part but a drop at the detent is typical of any blend I've used preamp or passive and there have numerous posts from others to as much - David Meadows addresses why in that thread. There may have been some instance where I didn't experience it but it's been too long to remember.

What matters is if it's an issue for you in your bass.

It never used to be an issue until when I had it recently replaced. Apparently, Bartolini uses C-A tapered blend pots now as opposed to the M-N they used to use (impossible to find and I love them). I actually devised a way to do a master volume with a volume for each pup. So I think that's gonna solve my blending woes.

That's interesting. Is there any designation in the pot number so you would know the difference?

Well all pots have either a labelling or inscription designating the taper. So on the old MN blend pots you'd see MN250K on the back of the pot. On the newer blend pots you'll A250K and then C250K right underneath it. I just don't understand why MN tapered pots are so scarce.
