can i eliminate my tone switch

i'm adding a new set of pickups to my bass, i'm always full tone with both pickups on. Can i wire these (PJ configuration)in with just a master volume and thats it ??

Yup.

However, if you miss out the tone pot entirely, you'll have a bass that's brighter sounding than with the tone wide open. You could compensate for this by replacing the pot with a resistor (matching the value of the pot) and using the cap you already have. That way you'll get the same (small) amount of bleed that you get with the tone control all the way "on".

As you'll have another hole in the bass, you could always try a series/parallel switch (just a suggestion).

I wired a P/J bass direct to the jack, as I was building it, just so I could try it out. It sounded amazing!
Series /parallel is cool, though a blend pot could be useful as well.

+1 to mohawk - I've been tossing this up for years on my p/j. either putting in a 3 way switch, some kind of variac, or killing the tone pot all together

fwiw I killed the tone knobs on one of my strats and it did get brighter - not an issue on a guitar, but not sure I'd want that on a bass . . .
