Can I get that Spector sound?

I have an old Samick PJ with EMG active pup's, maple (I believe) body, maple neck and rosewood board. I would like to get as close as possible to that Spector sound and growl.

I was thinking about getting a Tone Pump preamp. I am also considering the EMG BTS (2 band) pre. The EMG BQC (3 band) is offered as an option on Spectors site so it's got me thinking. Or, any other preamp that can get me close to that sound. Any insight?
