Can the pots be removed from the board on a Pope preamp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a Pope preamp from the classifieds. Although my Eshenbaugh's controls are in the Fodera layout, I doubt the holes are going to line up right. Would it be possible to remove the pots from the board and put them on leads? I'm down with sending back to Mike Pope if that's what it takes. If I can't I think I'm just going to put the preamp in my 78 Carl Thompson.

Yes, but it takes a qualified tech.

You wouldnt mind taking a good close piccie of the top and backsides of the boards would ya? =)

Actually from here its a pretty standard circuit.

I can post pics in a few days, but I haven't received the preamp yet. The picture above is from the seller. I pmed Mike Pope about this thread. Hopefully he'll chime in.

The bass, mid, and treble pots are 7/8" center to center. This is an old single sided board design. Very easy to desolder with simple desoldering braid from Radio Shack. The volume and balance pots are the same distance apart as the bass and treble pots are which is
1 3/4". You can remove the pots if you want to. I can't guarantee that there wouldn't be problems, but you'd PROBABLY be fine. You might want to send that back to me for a clean up. Cheers.
