my guess is that the EMG's themselves are active, and from there everything is passive.
another easy way to do it with active EMG's is to adapt two standard active EMG P-bass harnesses and wire the two volumes to a ganged pot as a blend (reverse stack) and the two tones to a ganged pot as a common tone (direct stack)...and then simply a passive master volume...

Yes, they are cool. The Aria SB series dual pickup models are just that. They look like humbuckers but under the covers they are P style. Granted they seem to have a uniqueness to them but they are still P style pickups.
I would like to use the EMG HZ passive pickup, in one of the slots, and the active pickup in the other. I dont know if that can be done with theese pre's though.
