Capacitors for tone pot?????

I got a tone pot on my Ibanez AGB140 semi acoustic & it doesn't seem to do anything- sorry If I asked this a long time ago, - I was wondering the diference of capacitor values on tone? Anyone give me a simple answer- one so I go buy a cap & try it out etc.... I haven't even pulled out the pot yet so don't know the value of the one on it, but I've a few spare pots-good qual. ones I could replace it with & will try a cuppla different capacitors on it.
Doesn't it go that lower value caps roll off less treble or something?????

Higher value capacitors roll off the treble more quickly.

Thanx... I didn't have much time, so I posted the Question. I actually thought that & will visit the Elecs shop at lunchtime- in a hour or so!

Many basses use a 0.05 microFarad (uF) capacitor. Some use a 0.1 uF capacitor.

The tone control should have very obvious results. If yours doesn't do anything, something is wrong. However, my experience is that, unless it is physically broken, these capacitors seldom are bad. I think the more likely culprit would be a broken connection, bad ground or a bad potentiometer.
