changing p pups from active to passive?

Hi Guys i have an 83 MIA p bass with an active EMG i am considering changing this to a passive maybe a seymour duncan or fender reissue i am after more of that warm old school sound i was wondering if anyone has done this and what differnce in sound was like?

FWIW:

In my experience a bass is basically a bass and you'd get similar response in swapping the same from any of them. It's been done a lot (as well as vice versa) and a search will show as much.

So sounds like your question is what does old school sound like compared to what you've got.

I don't pay attention attention to sound clips but my guess is you should have no trouble finding a myriad of clips with passive pups ran passive. Unless played to music, won't tell you anything about such a tone, but is better than words and something you can compare the difference solo to yourself.
