Changing pot values on NBMT pre

Sign in to disble this ad
I read in a thread somewhere here (but I can't find it again) that someone's luthier had changed the vol pot from 25k to 500k, and the balance pot from 250k to 500k, on the Bart NBMT pre-amp, and that that it had brightened up the dark sounding Bart p/ups while preserving the lows. I'm suffering from a too-dark sound on my Bart set-up, and I wonder has anyone tried this, and if it's likely to work. Or will it do any damage to the pre?. I would love it to work, as it will save me buying a new p/up set (P4's)!
Any help or opinions much appreciated.
