Cheapo fix for my input jack

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really really really strapped for cash at the moment, and I need to fix my threaded input jack. Well I was wondering if I could pull apart the shaft to adjust the connecting piece so there is a better connection to the plug. Am I just going to end up spending the 8 bucks and get a new one? Also can I get another one with this connector:

Nope. It's not possible to remove the innards on this type of jack. You'll need to buy a new one. They're not expensive.

Look here: Panel Jacks

Sweet deal. That won't break my bank either. Thanks

This is one reason I prefer the other style jack where it actually is feasible to bend the "tip" tab and get a bit more life out of it.

Rather than try and find that connector, it would probably be a lot easier to just remove the wires off the old jack and solder them on to the new. (Probably not the answer you were looking for if you were trying to avoid having to solder... )

I don't mind soldering, but I need to get a new iron as mine is like 40 years old and takes about equally as much time to warm up. I plan on going to radio shack next week to get a new one. I have a show tomorrow and wanted a quick fix. O well looks like the 5er will be out of commish for the show.
