Chequing a pickup works well

I use a key and touch the poles of each pickup, is this ok??
Doing this constantly can damage the pickups?

I've done the same thing when checking to make sure the wiring was correct after installing a pickup and before putting the strings back on. Doesn't hurt a thing unless you really work at it and try to damage something.
