How do you know that?
I think "Musical Instrument Appurtenance Electric Bass Humbucker Pickup" is a poorly translated description and not the manufacturer of the pickup.
Wilkinson pickups are made in China. They are not high end pickups. All Wilkinson parts are made in China or Korea. Same with the non hand wound Kent Armstrong pickups, which are made by Dongho Electronics in Korea. They also make SKY pickups.
If you go to a site like guitarpartsresource.com and look at the "economy" pickups, you see pickups ranging in price from $18.99 to $34.99. So if they are selling a pickup for $18.99, how much do you think they get it for? Probably about $9. Maybe less.
Even with something like Kent Armstrong pickups, if the list price is $75, the dealer price is about $37. The distributor, in this case WD Music, probably gets them for half of that, or around $18. So how much does Dongho Electronics sell them for?
So it's easy to see how these Wilkinson pickups can be sold cheaply from the country of origin. The list price on that Wilkinson pickup is £32.99, or $53.55. So wholesale dealer price is $26 and the distributor gets out for about $13.
So just because they are cheap does not mean they are fake.
