Choices? Six String Jazz Pick up?

Sign in to disble this ad
Am soon to take delivery of a Douglas WEB-846 TBL Quilt Top, sporting a pair of Jazz lookin' pups. What if any options do I have with replacements for these?

Picture for reference:

Some folks say they sound OK with no mods, but c'mon, the whole thing was $110 new, how good can they sound!?! I'll reserve judgment until I play live with it a few times, but I'm thinkin' the pups and preamp have to go to get a really decent sound out of it.

You know how it is, You get a bass, hoping to cure your GAS, but before it arrives, you start GASsing for mods for it

Delano makes several types of jazz 6'ers: standard, big pole pieces, and blade type. Nordstrand can custom make 6'ers.

Got the bass, playing it live cured my GAS, at least for now. The tone rocks. Not as "open" or "airy" as high end bass pu's, but that would just get lost in the mix for the type of music we play.

Punchy and clear, can be heard in the mix without mud, and sits in the mix well.

Color me happy!

I'm not sure of the dimensions, but Bartolini makes a 6-string jazz set.
