Choosing new pickups.

I currently have a Yamaha TRB4 ( the old one ). It has stock J pickups in it, they are ok, but i would like to replace them. I would like a bit better low end, brighter sound, and better response. When i slap on the A and D string i get very little thump, which also interferes with some of my learning since some of what i play i cant hear so well. I dont have to stay with jazz pickups, i can have my bass modified, but i do like the jazz sound. Any thought , or ideas would be great. TY

I have used the Duncan STK-J2 pickups in my jazz and pj basses and they sound VERY good...Just a thought.
