Chrome Bridge Pickup ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Seems the market is tending away from chrome pickups and leaning towards stealthy black ones.

Can anyone suggest a chrome (not plastic) 4 string bridge pickup?

It is for an EB. I have seen the Gibson EB knock offs and looked into a Rio Grande Pitbull (which I can't really find anywhere).

I make them in both a full size humbucker and the mini humbucker, which is the same size as the EB-3 bridge pickup:

I can put any of my usual pickup in there.

Do you fabricate the covers, or have a supply? Because I would be interested in a set of Jazz pickups with these covers. Been reading all the reviews of your pickups and will be listening to the soundclips tonight.

No, sorry, I don't fabricate my covers. Metal Jazz pickup covers would probably be hard to make. Covers like this are deep drawn, where they take a flat piece of nickel silver or brass, and use a big press and a pie to squash the metal into shape. It's hard to get a very tall cover like a Jazz, and it also has the mounting tabs, which would be impossible to do without casting the covers.

About the best that could due done wold be a chrome cap to fit over the front of the pickups. Also, keep in mind that metal covers do alter the tone slightly.

About the only thing I have seen like this is a Kent Armstrong lipstick tube Jazz bass pickup:

Thanks - I'm trying to make a fretless Jazz look kind of surfy. May just try to figure out how to make a closed cover look like this with paint. Which of course means SGD pickups are a viable option still.
