Chromed stacked knobs for a Seymour Duncan STC-3M3 preamp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have one of these preamps, 3 controls: volume, mid, and stacked treble/bass. It comes prewired and with black knobs. I want to put chromed knobs but i can't seem to find a source for them. The shaft is a bit wider (on the stacked pot) than anything I've seen. Does anybody know where I could get suitable knobs for these pots?

I just want to keep the original bass look, using chromed knobs rather than teh black provided.

Sorry, I just noticed your location.

Some folks have reported problems regarding international transactions with Parts Resource.

hmmm, thanks for the advice.

I filled the cart and they do seem to ship to the Uk alright. But with shipping it adds to over $30 for a couple of knobs. I'll keep it bookmarked as a last resort and keep looking. Maybe I can think of some more things I need to buy to make the shipping expense worth it. Good site anyway, thank you.

Funny ... I never seem to have any trouble adding things to my cart on their site.

I'm not sure which size you were looking at, but EVERYONE is selling stacked knobs...

Check BestBassGear, eBay, Amazon.com, Warmoth, Allparts, Guitar Nucleus, etc...

Yup ... a Yahoo search of "guitar knobs" yielded 4.48M results.

That's a lotta knobs.

Try looking for stacked knobs with an 8mm internal diameter for the bottom ring, and a 6mm one for the tip. The search will go down to a handful.

Now, try looking for a chrome one, not the silly tall ones, not the push-on types. And you will find one type. With a flat top. Now try to look for a dome-top one. I found exactly... hmm, let me think. Ah, yes, zero!

I gave up very quickly on the dome type (to match the other knobs), but it had to be the correct size. Most have a smaller diameter. Look it up if you don't believe me. I didn't expect these pots would be so unusual.

Anyway, I found a seller on ebay, from the US (nothing more locally) who would ship to the UK at a reasonable rate. Ordered already

The single knobs on this set are push-on 'though, but he sells the ones with the grub screw as well, just not in a set like that.

Anyway, I installed the pickup (SMB-4A) and the preamp (STC-3M3) today on my OLP MM2... and what a difference! Who cares what the knobs look like when it sounds this good!!!
