I am curious to know what differences there are between the CB Barts and the Lakland spec's Barts. The CB Barts I am looking at are the 59CBJD-S1 and the DL5CBC. Your thoughts......

The "classic bass" J pickups I tried sounded like barts. To me, they're really very similar to a normal 9J.

How does the 9J compare to Lakland's Bart J

More or less the same.

Barts are all much closer to other barts than they are to any other pickup. The 55-94 neck pickup doesn't sound exactly like a 9J Jazz, but that is because it is positioned a little closer to the bridge than a normal J-bass.

Barts always have that distinctive shape to the sound.
