Classic Vibe 60's Jazz pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, getting a Squier CV 60's Jazz next week and planning to change out the pups. I've been looking at the DiMarzio ultra jazz pups, the SD antiquity II, the SD quarter pounders, and the fender custom shop 60's pups, will these all fit a squier classic vibe without major modifications? I don't wanna cut anything on the body preferably.

Thank you,
Zack

Got one here on tb with sd quarter pounders installed in it, and the qp have a lot more thump on the bottom and growly mids than any cv's I have played in the stores. But the best sound is really a the sjb-2 hot bass pups by duncan to my ears for the range of sounds for a passive pup (from low p sound to grindy growly jazz ). Best of luck

It's not so much that I don't like the stock pickups, it's just that I'm upgrading from an affinity J and want a more dramatic difference... Saw a YouTube vid of a vm jazz with dimarzio dp149's in it and think I'm gonna go with that, but I might take a look at the hot bass SD pickups now...
Will the pickups fit in a squier or are they different sized pickup slots from fenders?

I'm in the same boat. Gonna live with the stock pickups for a while, and see what my next move will be. I am leaning SD Hot, but already have a set of QP's in my G&L JB2. DiMarzio Model J's are also in the running, and all 3 have the same purchase price. The bass is named "Mistah J," and is getting a black pickguard, with the image below on it. Finished instrument pix in a couple of weeks, in the Basses/CV Club thread, and, by then, I might also have a decision on the pickups.

I replaced the pickups in the CV jazz I had with Fender '75 RI pups and it made a huge difference. Really widened out the tone. Got em used here in the classifieds.
