Clipping on a spector legend classic?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a new spector legend classic, and no matter what settings I dial in on the preamp, if I pluck to hard it clips, even on less then full volume and no boost on the tone pump junior...

Any tips?

A markbass little mark III. I have the gain set at about 1mm above 0.

It also happens when I go direct in.

To ask the inevitable: Have you tried changing the battery in the bass?

By "direct in", you mean going straight to a mixing board?

Sounds to me like either a short that's preventing the battery current from making it cleanly to the preamp, or possibly dirty contacts on the output jack.
