Coil tap/split + passive tone preamp ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there , I installed a month and half ago the bartolini mk4 pickups , they have 4 conductors , so normally they can be splitted , right ?
This is the plan ,
I want to put a preamp who have both the passive/active switch , wiiith a passive tone pot , bot also a coil tap switch(3 way ?) ..for each pickups , which means I'll be able for exemple to use only one part of the neck pickup while using the entire part of the bridge pickup or , using both splitted , or just use them normally . And when I switch in passive mode , being able to modify the tone also .
I have a cort B4 artisan and will probably have to add some holes for the switches and the passive tone..and maybe a second battery box...
and for the piezo aaaand for the magnetic buffer... and for the mid frequency switch

Soooo do you know any preamp you will be able to do that , or will I have to buy a preamp (eg : nordstrand) and modify the wiring ?

PS : I don't wanna buy another bass , I wanna keep that one for ever , I'm very lucky , the woods are perfect , for a series bass it really is just like a luthier's bass and it has a great tone from the start and a better one now with the mk4 pickups as It seems that they have more tonal versatility ...buuuut , the bartolini mk1 preamp does not satisfy all my needs , I really want to be able to get the better from the woods and from the versatility of the bass

That setup should work fine, so long as you use a preamp that is designed to work best with 250K/500K volume pot(s) running before the preamp's input as opposed to a 25K/50K volume pot running after the preamp's output.
