combining pickups?

Sign in to disble this ad
ok i'm slapping some new pickups in my new bass and i had an idea i just dont know if it will work

i recently bought a new bass it had 2 soapbar pickups i've stripped the front one out and slapped a seymour quater pounder in it, the bridge pickup on the other hand i'm thinking of slapping a jazz pickup in but...

there's enough room for 2 jazz pickups in there (with a little modding)
so i was wondering if its possible to combine 2 pickups? eg: a vintage sound jazz pickup and a modern sound jazz pickup etc
stick them both together then wire them in the bridge
i'd assume you'd have to wire both sets of wires to the same tone pots etc but i'm no electrical wizzard

Several brands offer soapbars made of 2 J under the same cover.
Delano and Rio Grande come to mind.
