Concentric Knobs on my custom

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, this is my first post and I want to say that this is a great forum.

I have a question for anybody here who understands wiring (I couldn't understand any of it even if my life depended on it), I'm getting a custom bass with three pickups and a concentric knob (volume/tone) for each pickup. Can someone please tell me how to wire it so it works? It's a jazz bass with a Will Power neck near the neck, a willpower middle in the middle and a dimarzio ultra jazz for the bridge so its:

neck
Willpower neck
Willpower middle
Dimarzio ultra jazz
Bridge

Thank you all very much!

The problem with having three tone controls in a passive setup is that when the volumes are all the way up, the tone controls will act as masters. All three tones will have the same effect over the entire signal.

There are two ways around it, but both come with a compromise.

One way is to actively buffer the signal paths from each other, but this means you will need a battery, and of course, the pickups will not load against each other the same way they do in a passive setup.

The other way is to add resistors in series with the signal paths, to isolate the signal paths from each other. This means a drop in output and treble, however.

It would be a much better idea to simply have one tone control for all three pickups.

Do you know where I can find a wiring diagram for that certain setup? I'm brain-dead when it comes to these things.
