Concentric/Stack knob

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to outfit my Mark Hoppus Bass with a tone control but dont want to have to drill a new hold in the pickguard. I want to put in a Concentric stack knob right were the single volume pot sits now.

Right now I can only find 500/250kpots. I know when you wire a standard P-bass you use both 250k pots.

Anyway, do any of you know where to find a 250/250k stack pot? They have to exist. If I end up using the 500/250k pot, I'll have more high end correct? Thanks!

That link is for a 250K/500K pot....I would just use that one if I were you+ make the 500K part the tone- a 250K tone will roll off more treble even when it is all the way up, while a 500K can do everything the 250K can do and more...

If you really want a 250K/250K, you can buy one of the above pots and a 250K pot (from the same manufacturer!) + take them apart and put the carbon ring portion of the 250K pot in place of the 500K portion...nobody makes a cheap 250K/250K stacked pot for some reason.

Wow- I've never seen those before, that's good to know...Last time I looked for one I could only find custom made ones that costed $50 apiece! Luckily I have a ridiculous parts drawer with plenty CTS pots to gut and recombine...

I have one of those drawers too - but I can't very well sell new basses with reconstructed parts.
