i recently purchased a pair of nordies off of ebay and i went to my local guitar shop to have him install them and a leo quan badass II bridge on my fender jazz reissue. i just got it back today, and my bass sounds awesome, but i've also noticed when i turn my neck pickup down and try to play out of the bridge pickup it doesn't seem to be registering the d and g-string very loudly but the lows come through fine, however if i turn the neck pickup up it sounds great. now i'm a little new with hum cancelling pickups, but i was just wondering if the guy did a shoddy job on installing the pickups or if that's what they are supposed to do.

Shouldn't be this way. I'm not sure, but it could be possible to wire in only one half of the pickup by mistake. Or, one half may simply not work- the hum cancelling ones are made in two halves. Try this: roll off the neck pickup completely. Turn up the bridge, then touch the pole pieces at the D and G side with something magnetic, like an allen wrench. You will know immediately if that end of the pickup is working or not-you'll get loud clicking/scratching noises if it is.

update on that. it appears whenever i move the bridge pickup around a little that it begins to play but is still not as loud as the neck pickup. could it just be a bad solder job or could it be the pickups themselves, because the pups were still in plastic wrapping when i bought them. thanks

Sounds like a loose connection.
