Recently got this bass, plays great, sounds good. It sound better than the lakland it is replacing, except it still needs a little bit more. I think single coil is the way I wanna go, but thats only a think. Basically at this point in time I'm either planning on replacing either the pickups or the pre. Thoughts? Suggestions on pickups that will fit would be appreciated.

(Of course it might just be the strings, I'm waiting on some strings to come in within the next week or so.)

I wish I were replying with the answer to your questions, but I'm really just getting in line with you. I've had a GT5 for about ten years and it's been the main gigger for me. As I think you've discovered, it is one seriously under-rated bass.

I've been thinking about doing a pickup/pre-amp upgrade too as it's just gotten sort of weak sounding over the years. So I'm just horning in on your thread looking for answers too.
