Consistent Passive tone

Was sent this clip by Stew Mac today about getting consistent passive tone across all volumes. Found it pretty interesting. As we have all experienced. Even on a bass, the best tone out of a passive pickup (w/out a preamp) is generally with the volume maxed out. I guess this would work on a bass too.

Interesting....

Of course with a passive jazz bass wired volume/volume, you would have to do it twice.

That's a treble bleed circuit. It's been around since the 40s, and maybe earlier.

It lets some treble through when you turn down the volume, because turning down the volume increases the impedance load on the pickup and dulls your high end.
