So, I've been really focusing on some tone stuff lately, and I've decided that I just don't like the tone on my GTBD-7. It sounds too artificial and zingy for me. Most of the stuff that I play is on the lower end of the bass (I've replaced the high F with a low F# because of it), but the bass just doesn't sound very warm to me.
I have a Peavey Cirrus 4 that gives me a great hi-fi sound for doing slap and other more trebley styles (is that a word?), but I really would like to do a bit more on getting that fat tone.
Roscoe is one of those companies that I always love the sound of, heres a great example of some killer tone both in the low end, and yet it still can cut through on the high stuff without being too clangy or sharp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ5THI9yEL4
I'll be honest, I'm not too up to date (or knowledgeable) on pickups and electronics, so do you guys feel that swapping anything would improve that?
My amp section right now is: Bass -> Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal (just purchased) -> Stewart World 2.1 -> Carvin RL210T and 115, but these will be replaced probably by a fearful 12/6/1 and 12sub.
Any thoughts or opinions? I'm not even sure what pickups and electronics would fit this thing, so I'm not sure where to start. I did search and see this thread which seemed to give some info, but since its 6 months old now, I figured I would start up the discussion again. Replacement 7-string pickups in Bartolini G6 size?
Thanks in advance, as always!
