I am considering getting a set of the JMVC 4 FE/M2 for my jazz bass. Just curious about the wiring. How many conductors? 2, 4, ??? Thanks!

2 per pickup (hot / cold), installed a set in my MIA Deluxe Jazz without any problems.

Can you roll off the tone and get a vintage vibe? Any sound clips?

No sound clips as of yet, and I forgot to bring my P bass home with me

Even with the tone rolled off the bass still has a pretty modern sound. You definitely get more of a thump instead of a punch when you do this, but the inherent character is still modern sounding - if that makes sense.

Personally, I would not suggest this pickup if you are looking for a truly vintage sounding pickup. If you're looking to make your Precision sound clearer, punchier, and more aggressive, however, then this pup will get you there with ease

Watch out for the upper cut! And don't drop your guard. These will definitely deliver on punch.

Thanks for this review!! I have been interested in these Delano's for a long time and could never find a review. I appreciate you taking time to contribute this.

Did you guys add any shielding while installing these? or is that something more commonly done with active basses?

You're most welcomed I was wishing there was a review available for the Delanos when I was first looking into them, and since there didn't seem to be any I decided to make one myself to hopefully help my fellow bassists out.

I didn't add any, and I have not noticed any increase in hum from my P bass - not that there was any before It runs dead silent.

^ alright, cool!

So... you didn't really want to put the Dunlop strings on?
I have a set of Rotosound swing 66 steelies currently on my bass but I've gotta say that my favorites strings up to this point are the Dunlop nickels...
I'm gonna give the Dunlop steels a chance next..

Dunlop's are alright, but I'm much more of a DR guy. Low Riders on my P are absolute sonic bliss

I see.

I tried a set of Hi Beams and decided that DRs are nicer on my acoustic guitar

and Rotosounds are good on my electric guitar

The Dunlops I tried were the first in string change on the Squier since I had bought it..

Didn't shield as well, but then again the MIA Fenders have conductive paint inside the control cavity. But these are dead quiet, even when I accidentally touch the exposed pole pieces.

I should be good to go when the arrive Friday then!

I asked about the shielding cause I didn't know if these pickups run "hotter" than the stock Squiers..
