Diesel pickups??? Does anyone know anything about these pickups? They are listed on ebay and are the same dimensions for both the bridge and neck positions with different pole spacing to compensate for different string spacing. Looks like something different than the usual jazz pickups, and since both pickups on my squier standard jazz are the same dimensions, thought these may be an alternative to the original pickups. These would give my bass an original look, but am more concerned about how they sound. Looking for something that sounds a little meatier than the originals. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330808155195...84.m1438.l2649 |
Someone posted a Diesel bridge yesterday. Some sort of import brand label. Might be worth checking out for $17.97, or it might not... |
I picked up, (no pun intended) a set of these recently http://www.ebay.com/itm/JAZZ-FAT-POL...E:L:OC:US:3160 They did not neatly drop into my existing pickup space and i had to do quite a bit filing on the plastic cases to get them to slide in. I was curious about the sound for the price and was putting them into one of my beater basses, so I didn't care about chewing them up to get them installed. Once installed they are actually not bad sounding -- a bit on the aggressive side for my tastes (i play jazz and i dont mean fusion) with pronounced mids. I would not give them highest marks for clarity, but with a bit of the top tamed out in eq and a bottom boost they are serviceable passive pickups. |
IMO those look very similar to the pickups that Shecter puts into their diamond j basses. |
