Dimarzio Push/Pull with Ultra Jazz?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

Last year I installed Ultra Jazz into my MIM Jazz. They are very clear and crisp pickups, but can get a bit trebley. I am thinking about get push/pull to switch between parallel and series. I heard that parallel is even more toward the high frequencies.

Just curious what does parallel series offer as a benefit that series doesn't? Is a just more tonal options or does it have practical use with the Ultra Jazz pickups?

Thanks

Parallel is glassier, but not like single-coils.

I put a 4PDT miniswitch on my guitar that switches both pups between series and parallel and the parallel position acts as my "strat" sound.

I'm not sure what you mean by "does it have practical use with the Ultra Jazz pickups?"

You switch from series to parallel for tonal options, there is nothing more to it.

True, but what I was trying to ask is has anyone used Ultra Jazzes in parallel mode. If so what does it sound like?

A lot of people have DiMarzios with series/parallel switches.

Parallel give you more treble and less mids and output.

I had some with two push/pull pots (one for each pickup). The pickups are naturally quite scooped, so I found the parallel mode to be overkill.

Okay thanks, that is pretty much what I was thinking.
