DiMarzio Split P vs Model P

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently come across the Split P and I'm very interested on how the mini humbucking P pickup sounds. I havent read much reviews on it other than people saying it too hot. I'm stuck between the Model P, Split P, and the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder for a replacement on my BC Rich WarlocknBronze. It's my first bass and is pretty beat and sounds horrible on the original pickup but I'm not ready to give up on it because I love it. If anybody has any experience or advice it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kooter

I tried them in my american warlock bass. Went back to the regular model P pups. The split P is thicker but also not as detailed or articulate. More a punk rock tone without any real details to the sound compared to the reg model P.

Yea that's what I was thinking the issue might be with the split P with the very high output. Thanks man. Gonna grab the model P probably.

the trick with the split P is to wire it in parallel, instead of the normal P-bass series.

it's almost as loud, but a lot clearer sounding. this way, you get to hear the "soapbar" nature of the pickup without it being too dull.

Yea, thanks.. I'm just looking for some sound clips possibly so I can do some comparison. I found only 1 video with the split P and it sound very good but the thing is the dude is hooked up to a Ampeg SVT I believe and that thing makes everybass sound amazing. Lol. Only if I had the cash, Id go grab both and test them each out. The Split P just stands out and I'm very interested in it. I'll figure something out.
