Hello folks, i'm very happy with the results of my finished jazz bass build project, the pickups are Diamrzio Ultra Jazz and the Preamp is an Aguilar OBP-3
I'll put Some soundclips and i hope you like the sound, the bass has ash body, all maple neck, DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams, the pickup placement is in 70's style, all the clips were recorded in passive mode direct to the interface, so you get a better idea of the pure sound.
Overall this are a very traditional sounding jazz bass type sound, very clear, lots of bottom, very quiet, the bridge pup soloed sounds growly and nasal as you will expect, dialing with the tone pot, you can achieve a vintage tone without problems, i've played boutique basses with single coil type pickups, and honestly i don't see any difference soundwise, impresive tone for a 100$ pickup, and with an amp it's another beautiful story!
if anyone are interested, the control plate layout have:
-2 volume pots with push/pull for Series and Paralel Sound
-1 stacked pot with Mid and Tone control in pasive mode
-1 stacked pot with bass and mid
-1 switch for active pasive
-1 switch for mid freq selection
(Sorry for the demos, i recorded it later in the nigth) sorry for bad english too hehe!
