Dimazrio Will Power Mini Review + Soundclip

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi

I got these pickups about 4 or 5 months ago, to replace the crappy pickups in my Yamaha starter pack bass... These totaly changed the sound, these pickups are really fat and agressive, though they are not agressive as the Quarter Pounders, (did i mention billy sheehan uses these pickups )... Anyway, these pickups sound great, P bass on steroids, they cut through the mix, and through a really loud drummer and a guitarist and keyboardist! They also have covered pole pieces so that the strings dont hit the pole pieces resulting in that annoying pop... These pickups sound like the oppsosite of what the older oens sounded, these pickups sound GREAT!

I recorded a sound clip of these pickups, the tone is at at 100%,and increased a bit of mids and treble

I also have a very crappy sound crad, these pickups sound much fuller and brighter in real life, my bass also has 24 frets, so the pickup is near the neck, so if you install it on your Fender P bass it might sound a bit more agressive...(on a side note, even though my bass has a neck pickup, harmonics are clear and pinch harmonics are achievable with this pickup)

Photobucket reduced the quality of the recording when I uploaded it, sounds a bit different

Edit : Uploaded the original audio track through a different site which doesnt reduce quality

Thanks to Alvaro for uploading the file!

This is not exactly what the will power sounds like, its is actually more brighter and agressive...

New Clips

New clips with better quality

1st one : Tone at 40 %
2nd one : tone at 100 %

Soon to come : Pick Clips

Note : The agressiveness in the sound of this pickup is pretty close to the one in this recording, say, 93% the same... on my digitech BP200, I left the treble at 4 bass at 1 and mids at 2... and boosted treble in Adobe Audtion so in real life sound is fatter

say sound is a combination of the fatness (lil fatter) of the clip in the first post and the agressiveness of the soundclips in this post

Sure, I'l try to post some later today, with some pick samples... Its a middy P pickup, so the slap tone isnt that great, but il reduce the mids in my eq...

I played more agressively on the last 2 clips than on the first clip and boosted treble on them with Audition, thats why they sound so trebly, they are fatter actually with more bass and mids...

EDIT : Recorded slap tone, tone is at 90%, its middy a P pickup so not many people might like the slap tone, I reduced the mids and increased bass in my BP200, and increased highs in Adobe Audition(though not as much as the last 2 fingering clips)

please excuse my timing lol...
