Dingwall Mach II

I have a Dingwall ABII coming next week and Sheldon (the maker) wrote to me explaining it's one of the first basses off his line with a Mach II bridge pickup. I'm guessing that's an upgraded FD-3.

Anyone have any experience with these yet?

And here I was thinking I'd read a story about someone playing a Dingwall on the Concorde....

There's nothing posted on their site that I can see. I guess you'll have to be the first to post your findings.

I have heard nothing of these yet, but Sheldon's been full of surprises these days (always good for those of us who have Dingwall builds in the works)...someone posted about this thread over on the Dingwall forum, so I guess maybe we'll hear something?

I dig the surprises! It's always seemed to me that Sheldon's products and R&D get his commitment first, then the website gets updated. It's refreshing to see a company's time and resources focused on what matters the most, the product! Often it's the other way around where the marketing is launched before production process even starts.

I've had the pleasure of custom ordering some (???) Dingwall basses; the communication is top notch and the basses delivered, surpassed my expectations (I have high expectations myself). No marketing tricks here. the products speak for themselves

Here's the official info:

The Mach II is a hotter version of the FD-3. It's meant for bridge placement. It has a hotter output with punchier, more present lower-mids.

We were finding that our favorite bridge pickup tone required a touch of bass boost. We figured why not just build that into the pickup.

The increased output makes the bridge about 3 db hotter than the neck. Since the neck already has a more bass heavy tone and due to placement is more sensitive to playing dynamics we feel that this relationship is spot on.

The change in tone for the series and parallel settings is positive too. Both settings should cut through the mix slightly better now.
