Wiring is clearly not my thing. I have a bartolini 5.2 preamp with bartolini cbjds l/s. So I kept the preamp as is, except I added another battery for the 18v setup (pretty sure i did that properly) Now I followed the instructions for copper shielding and shilelded everything, I lined all the cavities with copper foil including the channels, I soldered all the seams, put in a ground lug, and grounded the bridge wire to this. Then I installed the preamp. The only thing I am unsure of is which wire is which coming from the pickups. The pickups have a large black wire extending from it, and at the tip of the wire the shilding ends and two wires are now shown, one is a thin wire with clear shielding, the other is a thick wire made up of a lot of other wires twisted together. I think that the thin wire is the positive lead and I soldered both the neck and bridge leads to their respective spot on the blend pot. Then I connected the two ground wires (or so i think) to the ground lug. I installed the batteries and no sound. Any ideas?

The clear insulated wire is positive and the braided wire is ground.

Could be LOTS of things.

See FAQ Dimento's Trouble Shooting Guide, may help may not.
