Wiring is clearly not my thing. I have a bartolini 5.2 preamp with bartolini cbjds l/s. So I kept the preamp as is, except I added another battery for the 18v setup (pretty sure i did that properly) Now I followed the instructions for copper shielding and shilelded everything, I lined all the cavities with copper foil including the channels, I soldered all the seams, put in a ground lug, and grounded the bridge wire to this. Then I installed the preamp. The only thing I am unsure of is which wire is which coming from the pickups. The pickups have a large black wire extending from it, and at the tip of the wire the shilding ends and two wires are now shown, one is a thin wire with clear shielding, the other is a thick wire made up of a lot of other wires twisted together. I think that the thin wire is the positive lead and I soldered both the neck and bridge leads to their respective spot on the blend pot. Then I connected the two ground wires (or so i think) to the ground lug. I installed the batteries and no sound. Any ideas? |
