In DIRE need of new PU's/Electronics

Sign in to disble this ad
Guys,

Without flying off the hinge, I need new electronics or PU's, I don't know which. I currently have Bart MK-1's, both PU's and electronics, and I don't like how they sound, in the least. It's too 'hissy/nasaly/hi-fi' sounding. And it's driving me nuts.

I love Tony Grey's sound. It's crystal clear without the obnoxious highs. Not to say that I want to try to copy his exact tone, but the clarity and warmth has to have something to do with his electronics/PU's. Does anyone know what PU's Tony uses on his Imperial 5?

Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I'm completely new to this, but have been playing for years. It's rather frustrating.

go with Nordstrand Big Singles or Big Splits...they should be very close in size to the MK-1's...

check out their website for dimensions...

Fodera uses dual coil pups, mostly wired in parallel.

Nordstrand has DC.

Give 'em a call

Fodera's pickups are all made by Aero (i think). Try Aero pickups. They're expensive, but I bet it's closer then anything else.

John Carruthers uses EMG pups and preamps....
Sound incredible and very versatile... growl, smooth, fat, round, tight, punchy...
Classif Fender to HIFI Alembic and everything across the board.
He's a class act in Venice, CA www.carruthersguitars.com
