Dirnt p-bass pup replacement????

any suggestions how to get this thing sounding more like a vintage p-bass? are the pups in this bass a mexican cheaper version, can it be upgraded to a louder tone?

FWIW:

OEM in that bass is a US Fender '59 custom shop with a DCR of 11K (which is what my SD 1/4 pndr is). Tone is fairly similar to a 1/4 pndr. The pup has more than enough output (unless it was mistakenly wired in parallel, you're running into the active amp input, you don't have enough amp to begin with, etc). To my knowledge the pup is only available in that bass.

Lotsa people would gladly take that '59 pup off your hands. It sounds to me like what you're looking for is the classic "flatwound " sound.
