Distance of P pickup from nut or 12th fret?

Sign in to disble this ad
Howdy - I'm adding a P-style pickup to my bass, and want it in the standard P position. Wondering if anyone knows the distance from the nut or 12th fret to the MIDDLE of the two halves?

Thanks!

Dude you could have just asked me. :-). To what bass are you adding a P pickup? How'd it work out?

That would have been too easy Bill (ie I didn't think of it)

I added an EMG P5 to my Franken-Yamaha - didn't do it for me. Love hearing OTHERS use P-basses, but they never have worked out for what I'm looking for. Same with a Jazz bass.

I need a Stingray-type sound, and I already have that with the single 40DC in there now.

I actually tried mutliple neck pickups and came to 2 conclusions:

1. I'm a single pickup bass guy
2. That pickup needs to be in the Stingray spot. And sound like a Ray.
