DIY mute switch... Can't be that hard right?

Sign in to disble this ad
I really love my LMII, but I am looking for a way to get a mute switch in my rig. I have been using a korg pitchblack tuner/mute, but I want to integrate it into my 2u rack bag. It won't fit. So....

How hard is it to make an external mute switch? Just a toggle-switch, two jacks, wire and a box?

Don't know if this'll help but you could
look into small powerbar 2 outlet w/on-off switch,
i'd check computer stores or google sure there's
a quality light solution out there..

There are a couple of threads on this right now...

the important thing is that to mute your bass, you don't want to just disconnect the signal, you want to ground it.

disconnecting it makes your cable a radio antenna.

adding a capacitor can help get rid of any pop sounds when switching...

take an SPDT switch and connect it between the Tip and Sleeve connections on the jack in your bass. I dunno about what value the cap needs to be, but this will ground out your signal and leave you with silence.
