Do EMG 5 string pickup work on a Peavey Grind 6?

Sign in to disble this ad
Was wondering do EMG 5 string pickup (40 series) will work on the peavey grind 6? Was thinking about that because the peavey grind 6 seems to have very tight string space and the stock pickup is around 10.5cm (105mm).

I'd think it would work. I think the EMG's have bar magnets, so if the pickup is wide enough to cover the strings....then it should work.

I'm looking to do the same thing

with the Cort Curbow 6 in this thread - looking for a pickup, possibly a 5-string, that can be tasked for a very narrow-spaced 6-string. I might easily wind up asking the good folks at Nordstrand to custom make one for me, but I wanted to check and see what other options are out there - it's a single pickup bass that I want to add a bridge pickup to, so for at least that second pickup it doesn't really matter what rout I choose to do for it.

I'll just mention the one concern I have about the existing Bart in there now - the outside two strings, the B and C, seem a tad weak. I wonder if that might mean they're right at the extremity of the pattern instead of comfortably within the field. Something to keep in mind - make sure you check the overall spacing the pickup's rated for.
