Do EMG HZ's sound modern?

I love the active EMG tones. I'd like to know if EMG passive HZ pickups sort of sound like their active counterparts.

Have you acutally used the HZs? Their prices are comparable to those of Dimazio and Duncan.

Their prices are comparable. I second or third the "meh" description. I love the active EMG tones from the DC line (and a few others). I would not call it a bad sound like some coming from the HZs just not the tone I'm after. You need to try then and they are easier to try than the active EMGs... so go try them and decide if you like them. Oh and do or do not there is no try.

I took the HZ's out of my Schecter and replaced them with the active 35P4's, the HZ's are kinda sterile IMO....

I don't mind the HZ's, they're not bad. I've heard better, but they're good enough for me. As for "modern", EMGs in general, as mentioned before, are modern sounding.
