Do EMG PU suitable for me

Sign in to disble this ad
Today just get a pair of EMG PJ pickups in a nice price.
And i am going to install on my SX PJ with rosewood fingerboard

I usually play some Rock and funky stuff with some heavy slapping,
I choose to change becoz the stock SX pu is so bad on slapping.

But do you guys think EMG PJ set is suit for funk and slap?

As i see in TB, seems EMG Pu is quite a much on high end sound,
but will it make the sound too thin?

Also, the one i get is a active PJ set, but since my bass is passive, is it possible to use it without add a inboard preamp?
Will the sound change a lot except the power?

Coz i mainly boost the tone from my chain.

Any famous bassist using EMG PJ sets?

thanks

EMG's are very good for slapping, i recomend them to you.
They have a lot of high end but also a very fat bottom, so it balances very well.
An onboard preamp is not necesary, just a 9 volts battery.
And also, the most famous slap player using EMG PJ pickups is Victor Wooten.

No. It's active, and therefore needs a power source for the internal amplifier.
