Do i have a problem!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys

Just looking for some help with my Fender American pbass deluxe please..

When I play the bass in passive mode and turn the knob right back I notice quite a drop in volume. Is that normal?
When I have the volume on the bass up full it doesn't happen, just when it's bout half way up!

Is it something I should see a tech about or is this normal?

Thanks to all

Stuart

Are you talking about the volume knob? Turning down the volume knob would create a drop in volume.

It might be more of a drop when in passive mode because the volume control is no longer buffered.

No it's it's when I turn the tone knob down. But it doesn't happen when the volume is on full...

Great. It's not too bad but I need to increase the volume a tad to compensate if I roll the tone right back...

You should leave the volume knob on ten anyway.

If the pick-ups are to feed signal into a connected amp or box or pedal, it has to drive signal into a certain impedance. The lower the impedance, the more signal is being lost. If, however, a pre-amp buffers the pick-ups, the output impedance of your bass drops significantly, enabling it to drive connected equipment (almost) without this loss.

I see..so that's why there is a slight loss of volume when the tone is rolled back??
