Do I need special wire?

Sign in to disble this ad
A while ago I replaced the pickups in my J. Now a connection has come loose. I probably did a bad solder job, but it was tough because I was reusing the original wire and some of the lengths were pretty short.

I have a show Thursday, and I need to rewire it before then. Do I need special wire, or can I just go to Lowes and pick up any old wire? Will the wire I use affect my tone?

Recommendations on length, gauge, shielding, etc are much appreciated.

i just use any wire i have lying around, ive even used a computer PSU wire before now. But if i had the money, id probably go with shielded wire. (like a guitar cable)
