I am going to be changing out the pickup on my squier p-bass for a Seymour-Duncan SPB-1 but I was wondering if its dimensions are going to be the same and if it will fit my current pickguard. I was going to pick them up after work today and didn't think to measure the ones on my Squier before leaving. Should I hold off until I measure mine or do all p-bass pickups fit any p-bass pickguard and I don't need to worry about it?
Thanks!

Great choice with the SPB-1... it might not be as expensive as the boutique brands (Fralin, Nordstrand, et al), but it sounds every bit as good. This pickup sounds exactly how you'd want a vintage precision to sound; the fact that it's affordable to boot, all the better. I've got a Nordstrand in one of my precisions and I like it enough... also got an SPB-1 in my other P bass and I like it even more. The Nordy has a really slight scooped tone and a slightly different top end, while the SPB-1 has that vintage sweetness so many of us are constantly searching for. Great pickup choice!

FWIW... I'm a pickstyle dude too and the TI's weren't quite what I was looking for when I wanted that particular tone. They have a different character than traditional flats, both a bit brighter and more mid-forward... if you roll off the tone somewhat you can do the traditional thing pretty well, but I personally prefer to start with more old-school sounding strings... Labella Deep Talkin' flats are the best I've tried. The webstrings flats are pretty cheap and do a decent job of that "super-dead" flatwound sound too.
However, if you want flats that can be versatile and ALSO come closer to the roundwound thing with the tone knob wide open, TI flats would be a good choice.

+1 on the DTB flats. Chromes do a very nice job of striking a middle ground tone-wise and have the nice, quiet smooth "flats" feel.

I'm really excited about the SPB-1, both installing it (first time I'll try doing it) and playing it. I keep hearing good things about it.
