That way, if I need some grit I just turn my bass volume up. It may not be ideal for everyone, but it's worked pretty well for me for almost twenty years. |

I hit a volume pedal for swells and on-break muting, etc. I sometimes use the knob in mid-song if I can't get to my amp or if I'm not using a volume pedal, but that's rarely the case. I also find the volume pedal allows me more fine-tuning range than any volume knob does. |

I leave the last 10% for taking a solo or cutting through the mix. I also dial it off in between songs sometimes or after a set. |

| | | | Absolutely I use it. It can really produce some shifts in tone I feel. And i am constantly messing with my tone on the fly. |

The tone can change dramatically with slight adjustments of the bass guitar volume knobs, so yes I use the knob very frequently. Also, some of my basses have multiple pickups (different types) and each pickup has its own volume knob. Adjustments are needed for variations in sounds. I don't want everything to sound the same. |

| | | | Though I use it on my first passive bass in 20 years (CV-P), I tend to use it a lot more on my active basses......I never really thought about why that is the case, though.....
