Does all the 2 band preamp scooped the mids???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

I have a warwick 2 band preamp and when it's engaged, it scooped out some mids (i like it a lot)

What about the other preamp like obp-2, audere and nordstrand are they scooping the mids too???

thanks for your help

Not necessarily "scooping the mids", in the sense that the mids are lowered to any lesser levels, just that when you boost either the highs or lows, that's what is really accentuated, unless you have a "mid scoop" circuit.

If you turn up the bass and treble you essentially cut the mids by boosting the fequencies higher and lower. If you dial back the bass and treble and turn up the volume, the mids come back.

With the warwick preamp, even when the bass and treble are set flat they mids are scooped compare to the passive mode.

Try setting the bass and treble to (-) neg, then.

Your preamp is voiced to color the sound (even when flat) then.
I would suggest that you either cut the bass and treble so that the mids will be percieved as being louder relative to the highs and lows, or upgrade to a more transparent preamp with a flat response.
