Does anyone else not like Fender height adjustment?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm in the process of re-building a parts '75 Jazz bass.
I'm ready to install the PUP's, and #@$%&*!!! I don't have any of that crappy dense foam they use to adjust the height.
I love Fenders, but why has this not been improved on?
Any alternatives?
I want to get these in tonight, but can't really think of another way of doing it.
I do have to give credit to Leo..its a very effective, cheap, and easy system!
Just sucks when you don't have any of the stuff lying around!!!!

1/2" weather striping. Any hardware store has it.

Yup. Get the heavy stuff, not the light stuff. Looks to be the exact stuff that Fender used back in the day.

I normally use four pieces of 1/2" weather stripping cut 1" in length. I stack one atop the other leaving me with two 1" pieces of foam. I then place each piece about 1/3 inch from the edge of the pickup. It may seem abit much but I find that I can control the p'up height much better. Once 1/2 foam compresses and gets a bit old...IT"S SHOT! LOL!
